This catalogue is compiled as a record of 'A Shelter for Architecture' event, presented by the Greek Institute of Architects in New York [GIANY], in April 2016 at the Consulate General of Greece in New York. This book is an attempt for a comprehensive documentation of that dense event, featuring the anthology of the projects that were presented and the thoughts that emerged during that evening. It provides a constant gathering place for these ideas: 'A Shelter for Architecture' catalogue is thus a composite of ideas – a shelter for ideas, in its essence.

COCOON Competition Results
The Greek Institute of Architects in New York [GIANY] is pleased to announce the results of the COCOON competition.
The jury was thrilled with the evocative proposals and the freshness of the ideas presented. Five equal winning entries and fifteen finalists were selected. All the selected proposals will be exhibited during the event "A Shelter for Architecture" on April 15th at the General Consulate of Greece in New York.

Elena Kampompasopoulou launched Cement Chemistry, which centers on the unique applicability of concrete as a malleable resource for jewelry design, inspired by raw materiality and geometry.
Natalia Roumelioti’s Wearables featured at the Magic Flute by the Manhattan Opera Studio which took place at Carnegie Hall on Monday December 14th, 2015
Future Library Workshop
Parina Vasilopoulou got invited by Future Library to organize a workshop on the transformation of public libraries through the incorporation of makerspaces and media labs. The workshop took place in Thessaloniki as part of UnConference 2015
GIANY meets Aristotle University of Thessaloniki
Fall is in New York, and so is Professor Sarantis Zafeiropoulos who is currently visiting the city with the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

The first edition of the Onassis New York Festival starts this Thursday Oct. 8 through Oct. 11, will be titled “Narcissus Now: The Myth Reimagined,” and will offer over 40 free events, including dance, music, film, visual art, lectures and talks, site-specific installation and a walking tour of Midtown. Most events will take place at the center’s newly renovated space in the Olympic Tower at 645 Fifth Avenue.
2015 IDEAS CITY festival
Jonah Bokaer choreographs and directs the journey of Rivington Migrations in an attempt to activate the route of the 2015 IDEAS CITY festival.
The event will take place on Saturday, May 30th and if you are interested you can volunteer in order to participate. More details here:

Ivi Diamantopoulou was part of the Studio Link-Arc design team for the Expo 2015 China Pavilion that opened last week in Milan.

Hot to Cold
Iannis Kandyliaris, designer at BIG, was the Project Leader for the Exhibition and Catalogue “Hot to Cold” by BIG, at the National Building Museum in Washington DC. The exhibition will run until August 30th.

Elena Kapompasopoulou and Achilleas Kakkavas were commended for their Residence in Proussos, Greece by DOMÉS International Review of Architecture as the “Best First Built Project by a Young Architect of the years 2010-2014”
